Wix to Webflow migration

Wix will not export your blog. That single fact shapes the whole project, and most quotes are written without knowing it.

Best for businesses on Wix whose content has outgrown what the platform will let them take with them.

Wix migrations are the ones most often mispriced, and there is a single reason: Wix does not support structured content export the way other platforms do. Everywhere else the content move is the easy part and the features are the project. Here it inverts. The features are usually simple and getting the content out is the work.

The blog is the problem

Blog posts cannot be exported from Wix. CMS collections can be exported to CSV from the collection's own actions menu, and store products can be exported for import elsewhere, but the blog is not covered by either. That means a site with two hundred posts is a fundamentally different project from a site with six, and the difference is not design time, it is extraction. Any quote written without knowing the post count is a guess.

Static pages come out by hand

Page content that is not in a CMS collection has no export path either, so it is copied manually or pulled with a browser-based extraction tool. Images can be downloaded individually or in bulk from the media gallery. None of this is difficult and all of it takes time proportional to the number of pages, which is why an accurate page count matters more here than on any other platform we migrate from.

What that means for how we scope it

We count posts and pages before quoting rather than after, and we say plainly which content is coming across by export, which by extraction and which by hand. On larger sites it is sometimes cheaper to be selective: migrating the posts that still earn traffic and archiving the rest is a legitimate decision, and it is a much better one taken deliberately during the audit than discovered halfway through a manual copy.

  • A post and page count taken before anything is quoted
  • CMS collections exported to CSV where they exist
  • Store products exported and remodelled rather than retyped
  • A stated plan for what is extracted, what is copied and what is archived
  • Redirect map built from a crawl, since the old URLs are not pattern-regular

What a build here actually includes

Every build is scoped to the practice, but on this kind of site these are the parts that are not optional.

  • Content inventory with a post and page count before the quote
  • CSV export of every CMS collection that has one
  • A named method per content type: export, extraction or manual
  • An archive decision for content that no longer earns its migration
  • Redirect map from a full crawl plus analytics

What we keep seeing go wrong

None of these are hypothetical. They are the things that turn up again and again on sites in this vertical, and most of them are cheap to avoid and expensive to undo.

  • Quoting a Wix migration without counting the blog posts first
  • Assuming an export exists because every other platform has one
  • Retyping store products that could have come out as a file
  • Migrating two hundred posts when forty of them still get traffic
  • Leaving image extraction to the end, when it is proportional to page count

Questions we get asked first

Can we export our Wix blog?
No. Wix does not provide a blog export, which is the single most important fact in scoping one of these. CMS collections export to CSV and store products can be exported, but posts come across by extraction or by hand. That makes your post count the main driver of what this costs.
Do we have to migrate everything?
No, and often you should not. On a site with a large archive, migrating the posts that still earn traffic and archiving the rest is a legitimate call that saves real money. It is a much better decision taken during the audit, with the analytics open, than discovered halfway through a manual copy.
What about our store?
Products can be exported for import, which is the one part of a Wix migration that behaves like other platforms. What still needs rebuilding is the storefront itself, and the checkout, payment and shipping configuration has to be set up again rather than transferred.
How do we protect our rankings?
The same way as any migration, with the caveat that Wix URLs are less pattern-regular than some platforms, so more of the redirect map is individual entries. Build it from a crawl plus the analytics list of pages that actually receive traffic, import it in bulk, and test before the switch rather than after.
